One of the Wellington-depoted Leyland Nationals in the 760s sequence was experimentally fitted with a Ferodo Retarder following the winter freeze which brought many LNs to a standstill. The equipment included modified air dryers and bleeders to keep the vehicle moving when the ice threatened.
